IT Product Design is a programme with focus on the user's role in the development of new products involving IT.
The development of IT is not just about technology, but is also based on the users' needs. In the programme, you will study user behaviour in using products that include IT, for example, coffee machines or large industrial installations.
You will learn how to involve the users in the design process. For example, user behaviour can include the methods the user employs to find information.
Three areas of design are studied: User Centered Design (UCD), Interaction Design and Design Research.
The programme is both practical and theoretic. You will study different theories and methods of developing new products, and learn, for example, how you organise and control the processes involved in the development of a product, in cooperation with a company.
Teaching varies between courses and project work, where students work to create a product. In the course of the programme, you will work with various companies. You will also work with the methods in the areas of ethnography, drama, video, and so on.
