The course in international security and law covers knowledge from the social science domains of law, political science and ethics.
The course focuses on the fundamentals of modern conflict; power, law and ethics. By studying both former and current conflicts you will learn how to produce analyses and conflict solution models.
The programme consists of core courses, electives and a thesis.
The core courses are:
- Introduction to International Relations
- Introduction to International Law
- International Order since 1815
- History of the Law of Nations
- New Wars and Conflict
- The Laws of War
- The Ethics of War and Peace
Teaching varies between lectures and classroom instruction. In addition, there is often project work together with other students. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.

If you choose to complete the master degree programme, you will graduate with the academic title of Master of Social Sciences (MSc) in International Security and Law.
