The Middle East Studies programme is about the Middle East from 1920 until today. The programme will give you knowledge of history, culture, politics, for example the founding of the Palestinian parliament, and sociology such as the conditions of the refugees in Arab refugee camps.
You will study areas such as the war and reconstruction of Iraq, the Israel/Palestine conflict and the modernisation process of the Middle East countries.

- Culture and Religion in the Middle East
- Economy and Natural Resources in the Middle East
- Politics and International Politics in the Middle East
Teaching varies between lectures, classroom instruction and project work in groups. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.
In the third semester there is a 3 month placement in an organisation or a political or administrative unit in the Middle East. The final 6-12 months will be spent writing your MA thesis.

Graduation from the master degree programme confers the title Master of Arts (MA).
