The Maritime Archaeology programme deals with the sea's cultural and historical significance for man, for example, with shipwrecks. You will work with maritime cultural heritage and learn how you recover and preserve it.
You will learn about both practical and theoretic reconnaissance methods, and become familiar with underwater excavating, remote sensing and field conservation.
In addition, you will learn about the administrative tasks that are associated with the administration of cultural heritage. In this aspect, you will cover courses in management, law and economics.
You should expect extra expenses for diving equipment and instructions, if you are planning to be a diving marine archaeologist.
Teaching varies between lectures and classroom instruction. In the third semester, there is a 3-week course with field excavation.
