Sustainable Biotechnology is about discovering and developing alternative, more sustainable sources of energy to the fossil fuels we use at the moment.
The study programme focuses on the development of biomass from, amongst other places, agricultural waste, algae and industrial waste generated by food production.
The processes are based on microorganisms (fungus and bacteria), micro-bacterial produced enzymes and chemical catalysts.
Subjects from disciplines such as environmental technology, renewable energy and resources are included in the study programme.
You will receive a solid grounding in state-of-the-art biotechnology, applied microbiology, process technology, sustainability, energy, environmental science and biomass based resources.
Teaching varies between lectures, classroom instruction and project work in groups. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.
