Business, Language and Culture

The programme combines language and economics with an understanding of foreign cultures. You learn to analyse, assess and solve tasks in connection with corporate international activities. The idea is to incorporate cultural perspectives in analyses of international economic issues.

The programme contains five subject areas:

• Economics, where studies include international business administration and socioeconomics.
• Language and Area Studies, where you attain oral skills in one or two languages and familiarity to these countries' cultures. At Copenhagen Business School you can study English plus another language, either French, German or Spanish and in the MSc programme you can also study Chinese or Japanese. At the University of Southern Denmark in Sønderborg you can study Chinese.
• Culture and Social Studies, where you, for example, learn about inter-social relations and political systems.
• Communications, where you study communication theories and methods, including those that apply to a corporation's national and international relations.
• Interdisciplinary Research Methods, where you become familiar with the scientific theories and methods that are used within the profession.

Teaching varies between lectures and classroom instruction. In addition, there is often project work together with other students. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.

If you choose to complete the bachelor's programme, you will graduate with the academic title Bachelor of Science (BSc).

The general admission requirements for international students include one of the following international certificates: the Danish/French Baccalauréat (DFB), the European Baccalaureate (EB), the International Baccalaureate (IB), the Option Internationale du Baccalauréat (OIB) or another foreign qualifying examination certificate that can be equated with a Danish upper secondary school leaving certificate.

In addition, documentation may be required verifying your proficiency in English is at a specified level.

The application deadline is March 15 for a course start in September. Admission is handled through The Danish Coordinated Application System. You can apply via optagelse.dk.

A few educational institutions offer a course start in February, where applications are sent directly to the institution. Contact the educational institution for detailed information on application deadlines.

Exchange students should contact their home institution for information on application procedures and deadlines.

Tuition

There is a tuition fee for all full-degree students, unless you are a student from an EU/EEA country, or from Switzerland.

Students within an exchange programme are not required to pay tuition.

Semester Start

An academic year is made up of two semesters, which begin around September 1 and February 1.

You can study Business, Language and Culture in Copenhagen, Odense and Sønderborg.

Copenhagen Business School (CBS)

At Copenhagen Business School (CBS) Business, Language and Culture can be studied as a 3-year BSc programme (180 ECTS).
