You learn to study groups of micro-organisms, plants or animals, their physical environment and their distribution in nature.
You study such things as the influence of climate and water availability on the regulation of a group of animals or organisms.
You can also study the influence of other organisms on a given group. What happens, for example, when humans hunt, fish and cultivate the land?
On the programme you will gain basic knowledge of the composition of living organisms and how they function in interaction with their surroundings.
The programme is divided into three main elements:
- Eco-toxicology, where you study pollution or adverse impacts on eco-systems.
- Eco-systems, where you learn about environmental data and ecological issues on a large scale, e.g. forests, lakes and fjords.
- Eco-physiology, where you study how organisms interact with and adapt to their surroundings i.e. their environment.
Teaching varies between lectures, classroom instruction and project work in groups. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.
