Information and Communications Technology (Engineering)

The programme covers the development of IT systems and software for electronic equipment such as mobile phones, measuring instruments and surveillance equipment.

You will learn how to plan and develop IT systems for private companies, e.g. secure banking systems. You will aquire both theoretical and practical knowledge of information processing methods and theories.

Graduates of the programme will be qualified to work with IT systems, networks, web technology and programming. You could also work as an IT consultant for public and private organisations.

About the Programme

ICT engineers work in the fields of software engineering, information technology and data communication.

You will study the two main areas, systems development and programming.

Systems development involves the development of information systems from idea, analysis, design and test to deployment and maintenance. You will also learn to programme. Please contact the educational institution for details of specific courses.

You will be able to specialise in a specific field, for example:

The 3½ year bachelor programme includes an internship for one semester, in a company in Denmark or abroad.

The final semester will be spent working on your bachelor project.

Teaching varies between lectures and project group work. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.

Information and Communications Technology (Engineering) can be studied as a:

3½-year bachelor programme (210 ECTS)

You can also take single courses or subjects within the programme.

If you choose to complete the bachelor programme, you will graduate with the academic title Bachelor of Engineering.

Educational Institutions

You can study Information and Communications Technology at the Copenhagen University College of Engineering in Ballerup and at VIA University College in Horsens.

Entry Requirements

The general admission requirements for international students include one of the following international certificates: the Danish/French Baccalauréat (DFB), the European Baccalaureate (EB), the International Baccalaureate (IB), the Option Internationale du Baccalauréat (OIB) or another foreign qualifying examination certificate that can be equated with a Danish upper secondary school leaving certificate.

In addition, documentation may be required verifying your proficiency in English is at a specified level.

Admission

The application deadline is March 15 for a course start in September. Admission is handled through The Danish Coordinated Application System. You can apply via optagelse.dk.

Exchange students should contact their home institution for information on application procedures and deadlines.

Tuition

There is a tuition fee for all full-degree students, unless you are a student from an EU/EEA country, or from Switzerland.

Students within an exchange programme are not required to pay tuition.

Semester Start

An academic year is made up of two semesters, which begin around September 1 and February 1.

Danish Qualification framework
