The IB programme is offered to Danish youth who have gone to school abroad for several years, and foreign youth who are living in Denmark for a longer period. If you are considering pursuing a higher education in another country, this diploma is a good starting point.
Teaching within the International Baccalaureate programme is in English. The programme consists of six subject groups: First language (mother tongue), foreign language, social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics and an elective, for example, a creative course. You must choose one subject from each group.
Subjects are separated into Higher Level and Standard Level. Higher Level is equivalent to A-level in Danish upper secondary schools, and Standard Level is equivalent to the Danish B-level. The subject "Mathematical Studies" is equivalent, however, to a C-level. Three to four of the subjects you choose must be Higher Level.
In addition, you must take the course Theory of Knowledge and complete a major written assignment. Finally, you must participate in various creative and social extra-curricular activities for a few hours each week.
Final Examinations: There will be written exams in English for all subjects, and an oral exam for languages. The diploma is called the IB Diploma.
