The curriculum of the 2½ year programme is split up into compulsory and elective subjects. The main fields of study are chemistry, microbiology and laboratory technology. Other fields, such as quality control and IT are also included.
During the course of the programme, you gain a comprehensive view of the work required at different types of laboratories, for example within the food industry, medicine industry or the chemical industry.
The compulsory part of the curriculum involves three subject areas:
- A general studies area, including the subjects chemistry, mathematics, work environment, quality control, IT/communications and basic laboratory technology
- A chemical technology studies area, including the subjects equipment technology and analysis methods
- A biotechnology studies area, including the subjects microbiology and basic biotechnology
The elective part is based on compulsory subjects and is made up of a specialisation track and a final project.
The specialisation track entails a 6-month paid internship, where you work for one or more enterprises.
Teaching varies between lectures and class work. In addition, there is often group work together with other students. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussions.
